I built an ISO for this. I used bcz > postbuild to build, but postbuild throws errors anyways, so it may not be needed. Then I accidentally found an uncompressed version of the i386 folder in multiple folders (bla is one of these folders.) I took that, compared it with another Windows XP disk, put the files needed uncompressed temporarily in a different folder, built a script to make them all cabs, and took the newly made install folder and threw it into Imgburn. You should give a CD boot record that doesn't look like garbage to it. I'm not sure if it can boot directly but using the boot floppy > executing winnt.exe seems to work. Haven't completely went through setup yet so can't tell if the given i386 folder really works, or if I was able to decompress all the proper files.

- There are multiple files you will need to move, most importantly extract.exe and winnt.exe. To have the full list of files, grab an XP iso and compare the uncompressed files from the disk to your compiled copy
In order to make the file list for the batch script: dir /b > filelist.txt
Go online, search up "append text to lines" and go to the pinetools one. In prefixes, add "makecab " with the space. In suffixes, add " & del %L%" with the space before. Copy the results and put them in a batch file, which you will want to run at the i386 folder you found. Then get imgburn and hxd, use hxd to copy sector 16 of the XP disc to a file, search up how to make a Windows XP bootable disk, find the how to haven one, copy its ibb file, use the ibb file in imgburn, and burn the iso. It probably won't boot but try to use it in a Windows 98 boot floppy. Ask for any more help if needed.

It's an open source Windows as recent as XP is. Tons of programs still work, and the stuff that doesn't can be patched. You can customize anything you want, and change things in the underlying layer of the operating system.
If development on this continues for a few months, we might get a whole new flavor of operating system. A few years without MS shutting it down? A whole ecosystem with different forks and more stable code. Maybe I'm too optimistic though.

Anon... Nearly nothing that's still being updated works on XP anymore. Getting newer stuff to run would be entering WINE territory. And forget about good support for 64 bit or any modern hardware. Hope you enjoy writing drivers!
Even if 7 leaked you'd be in a similar situation, but 7 is still supported by a ton of software, even if hardware support is getting really bad.

Even if, per say, for the time being we are limited only to older programs that were compatible with xp from the start, we are stillmore than fine. Sure, they aren't as convenient as modern software, but they are more than capable of producing great works.

There's always exceptions, anon. Vim supported MS-DOS up 'til version 7.4 two years ago, and there's more software being made for it. That don't mean there's a lot of recent software for it. Most software you'll find/need on a day to day basis don't work on xp.

You have to feed IDA with header/library info from Win2000 winlogon (older leak), and the libraries and headers from MSGINA folder in the leaks. Public PDBs are stripped sh*t and them will not do the work alone.

2bh we should be working with server 2003
that has rdp sources, no sp folder bullshit, xp x64 was based on it, code is from 2003 instead of 2002
pretty sure almost everything in XP is inside server, there used to be guides to de-server it which almost made it identical to XP, anything missing we can easily copy over too

ex.lib is missing, I ran into the same problem with the DOS 6.0 source.
I made a dummy lib and then made note of the missing symbols during linking and then made a skeleton lib with functions that just returned. I did this until I got all the source tree to build then reversed the functions or found the functions, structs, variables in other leaked source.

\public\internal\windows\lib\i386\directui.lib is missing on the srv2k3 code (but can be copied from the xp code), and unlike in the xp tree, in the srv2k3 the termsrv actually compiles (and it is included in the root dirs file)
also, seems like srv2k3 can be fully compiled (still haven't tried running postbuild), now I just need to build mergedcomponents (which is going to take 2-3 hours)

I'm sure I read somewhere that ISO creating wasn't part of the build process or some shit, and that's why so many longhorn ISOs had fucked boot sectors & other weird shit, since a lot of them were just folder dumps turned into ISO in strange ways

there was definitely something in MS which used CDIMAGE to create ISOs, but it wasn't part of the actual build process

PD: Personally i would leave untouched the logos until i can find a way to integrate wrk kernel, and then i would use whatever generic logo came with XP/2003 SP2. There are more important things to do to get this leak on rails than waste time in logos or themes.

when I posted about that I did mention you need a fresh cmd afterward, but that got lost in the OP I guess
OP also mentions the cert installing commands themselves too so really the razzle by itself isn't needed at all

Yeah, he had a buildable version of WinPE on his own version he called "OpenNT 5.5", but not a complete desktop- although it is possible. I have a few portions of the code ported to NTOSBE, namely everything in base, but that's about it so far

No need to. Current version of NTOSBE can compile XP source code. Although you have to take into account that it uses x86 instead of i386 for folders and some definitions, like I386_SOURCES -> X86_SOURCES, etc.
